The Colorado Experiment: Day 1
As you can tell, I love experiments. This entire Project Insanity was just an experiment actually.
Now, I have found out about something I’m really excited about, the Colorado Experiment. You can find out more by going here: http://www.kratosguide.com/the-colorado-experiment-63-pounds-of-muscle-in-28-days/
Apparently, Casey Viator, a bodybuilder, gained 63lbs of muscle in just 28 days during an experiment done by Colorado University!
The workouts consisted of the following:
*Many workouts: between 10-15
*One set to complete muscular failure
*Each rep is also performed with 5 seconds up, 5 seconds down
* Each exercise is performed consecutively without rest
*Full body workouts
*You do this workout 3 times a week
There’s been a lot of skepticism surrounding the experiment, from people saying it was muscle memory, to steroid use, to even insane genetics. But either way, the Project has been claimed to work wonders for others.
I am intrigued nonetheless. So, here comes another experiment. Its my experiment inside an experiment.
Do you want to know if the Colorado experiment works?
If so, I am testing it out for 30 days.
The Colorado Experiment Workout
It will not be the identical workout, but it will follow the basic guidelines and be as close as possible. I did my first workout today. I must say, it was insanely hard because you have to literally train to complete muscular FAILURE. Even when you can’t get that last rep up, you must hold the weights until they fail beneath you. If you do it right, another set should be close to impossible.
I made it through the workout in a half hour and felt extremely sore and heavy. So far, so good. I’m liking this method a lot.
Here is the workout I am using for the Colorado Experiment. These were the stats for today (March 27th, 2012). I will adjust the weights as needed as today was really a test to see where I stand:
Squat – 225 x 25
Leg Press: 450 x 14
Hanging Leg Raises 31
Leg raises SS to failure: 21
Deadlift: 205 x 7
Pullups to failure: 33
Bench press: 170 x 14
Dips to failure: 57
Shoulder Press: 55 x 9
Barbell Curls – 70 x 15
Shrugs – 110 x 11
Pushups to failure: 201
10 Minutes of H.I.I.T training
Since you are focusing on slow reps, perfect form and ZERO momentum, plus doing 10-15 reps, you have to get your ego out of the way and not lift too heavy. If you do, you’re only cheating yourself.
Project Insanity: My Current Progress
I have 27 days left of Project Insanity. I started at 146lbs and 11% bodyfat, which means a lean muscle mass of 130lbs. Today, as of March 27th, 2012, I am 166 with a total of 13% bodyfat. That gives me a total muscle gain of 14.42 lbs.
Even if I don’t reach 30 lbs of muscle as originally planned, I will be satisfied nonetheless.
So far, it’s been the massive amount of protein, full body workouts, and gallon of milk a day that has gotten me the results I had so far.

Insanity Review
I have been doing Insanity every day on top of it all. This is to cut down on bodyfat while using BULK-UP and doing the Colorado Experiment. I am starting my Insanity workout review, and posted a before picture a few days ago as to what I look like now. We’ll see how shredded I get in 60 days when Insanity is over.
I’ll be putting up weekly pics to keep you updated on the progress and results from using Insanity. To sum up what I think so far, I’ll just say this: they call it Insanity for a reason.
